THE PROTAGONISTS OF THE PASTORAL CENTER FOR MIGRANTS OF CUIABÁ - MATO GROSSO

Based on the life and daily challenges experiences of hundreds of migrants and refugees who come from different places to this region that is said to be the countryside Brazil, a survey was carried out on the protagonists of the Centro de Pastoral para Migrantes (CPM) of Cuiabá-Mato Grosso, considering the expertise of this institution in the reception of migrants and refugees in the state of Mato Grosso. With a descriptive purpose, the data collection of this research with a more qualitative approach was carried out through documentary and bibliographical research, face-to-face interviews carried out with the social actors involved in the study of the institution and data collected through informants who work in the researched institution. All the protagonists who work or who have worked at the House from 1980 to 2022 were considered and seven of them were chosen as typical subjects, that is, representatives of the protagonism experienced in the work of the CPM: three priest-directors, three employees and one institution volunteer. The results expressed by cooperation and reciprocity, demonstrated that the protagonism of these social actors through their welcoming attitude was decisive to generate changes in favor of others. These changes perceived in the subjects and constituted in their identity-metamorphosis-emancipation process were being grounded through their insertion in society, the way they deal with nature and how they assimilate culture. It was observed in the transcendent, a force to face the challenges of migration, which is renewed with each new migratory flow, both for those who welcome and for those who are welcomed.
