Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder that occurs in women of reproductive age. One of the main dysfunctions observed in PCOS is the alteration of the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian (HPO) axis. This study reviewed technological advances and diagnostic tools in the epigenetics of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), aiming to understand their clinical applicability and future perspectives. Techniques such as next-generation sequencing, DNA microarrays, DNA methylation analysis, and histone modifications were reviewed. These tools enable the identification of potential epigenetic biomarkers for diagnosis, prognosis, and the development of personalized therapies. However, it is crucial to conduct more research to validate these tools and translate their results into effective clinical applications to improve management and outcomes for women with PCOS.
