Resumo

The work evaluated the production of biogas by anaerobic digestion of concentrations of polyhydroxybutyrate with swine wastewater (SWW). Twelve batch reactors with a useful volume of 3.2 L, stored in an oven under mesophilic conditions (35 °C) with a hydraulic retention time of 33 days, were used. The substrate consisted of inoculum, SWW and PHB, arranged in four treatments (control, 4.5 g PHB (PHB1); 22.6 g PHB (PHB2) and 45.2 g PHB (PHB3). better removal of total volatile solids, with 99.49%. The same treatment had the highest accumulated biogas production, with 41.3 L. The PHB1 treatment had the highest conversion rate of PHB into biogas, totaling 203.91 mL of biogas /gTVS and showed the highest composition of methane in biogas, reaching 72.6% on day 14. The addition of PHB in anaerobic digestion is seen as an alternative to increase biogas production.
