Resumo

With the wide scientific dissemination in the media in order to instruct and prepare the population to deal with the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, society had to adapt through daily measures such as the use of masks and the adoption of antisepsis practices and sanitization. The Federal Institute of Rio de Janeiro (Realengo campus) intends, within the extension and research proposal, to seek through educational measures within the context of chemistry with a focus on sanitizers, instruct 1st year high school students from public schools and individuals and also education of young people and adults about health actions and information aimed at the pandemic scenario, since the use of sanitizers is extremely important to eliminate the virus from surfaces and, combined with other prevention measures, results in a reduction of contagion by the same. The objective is the development of critical knowledge and applied to the reality of the chemistry discipline, in order to enable students to intervene in key points during the pandemic, such as the dissemination of false information, popularly known as fake news, which combined with despair and misinformation can trigger an irrational use of these products, highlighting the importance of knowing about storage care and daily use of sanitizers. The methodologies and organizations of actions to combat Covid-19 are also proposed in order to contribute to the learning process of the project participants, allowing the scientific academy to come closer to the population.
