CIÊNCIA ANIMAL E VETERINÁRIA: INOVAÇÕES E TENDÊNCIAS - VOLUME 3
Objective: As an animal produce exporting country, Brazil maintains conformity with the international trade health standards, as demanded by the World Trade Organization (WTO) and proposed by the World Animal Health Organization (OIE). The main objective was to evaluate the spatial and temporal distribution of three notifiable avian diseases, Newcastle, mycoplasmosis and salmonellosis from 1999 to 2017. Methods: The prevalence of Newcastle disease, Salmonellosis and Mycoplasmosis, from 1999 to 2017, was calculated with 95% confidence interval; also a general by state prevalence maps of the period were done. Results: Except for Newcastle disease, of which the exotic mesogenic and velogenic forms are eradicated in Brazil, a large spatial-temporal variation in notifications has been observed over the years for salmonellosis and mycoplasmosis, of widespread occurrence. The highest prevalence of mycoplasmosis was observed in largest meat producers’ southern states of the country. Most Newcastle disease cases were registered before the establishment of the Brazilian Normative Instruction no. 32, of May 13, 2002. However, the notifications of mycoplasmosis and salmonellosis were still elevated, indicating a potential difficulty regarding the implementation of Normative Instruction no. 10. Conclusion: The eradication of Newcastle disease can be associated to the implementation of the National Poultry Health Program. However, this association was not possible to be made for mycoplasmosis and salmonellosis.
