MODEL BASED ON THE AHP METHOD TOGETHER WITH THE BORDA METHOD FOR DECISION MAKING

The present paper presents a comparative study for the acquisition of helicopters by the Brazilian Navy using a combination of the Borda's Method and the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), two of the most widely used tools for decision support. The association between these two methods aims to extract the best of both to minimize dilemmas relative to collective decisions. The analysis was based on data collected in a field interview with Navy pilots and engineers, familiar with the aircraft and the missions for which they are intended. The results obtained by the application of the methods will be evaluated, as well as the inconsistency perceived on some judgements. The most important finding of this study was that this combination of methods leads to a more precise decision – for organizations as the Brazilian Navy, and it can also be applied for complex decisions on great companies that compete in the global market.
