BIOECONOMY: AN AGRICULTURAL APPROACH

Bioeconomics and bioeconomy approaches emerged from contemporary environmental concerns and have contributed to agribusiness facing the challenges of the 21st. century. Both scientific lines are engaged in developing studies taking into account the peculiarities of biological and economical resources. The general objective of this study is to identify the main approaches related to the term bioeconomy in farm and ranching. For this research, it was used a systematic review of literature, with quantitative and qualitative observations of data obtained from the main indexers of international journals. The results achieved show that the applications in bioeconomy in the agribusiness context can be conceptualized through four contents (nature, approaches, bioeconomic modeling, biomass biotechnological modeling, biotechnological innovations, and biomass substitution) and outstanding in six major areas (policies for innovations, agricultural inputs, land use, water use, emissions, and weeds). However, due to the interdisciplinarity of the articles found, the interconnection of these concepts in the qualitative results indicates the insertion of bioeconomy in different agricultural sectors and its most recurrent applications. As to the quantitative results, it was verified, from the correspondence analysis, the low level of correlation with the attributes of the literature review, but they indicate that the two aspects can complement each other, bringing new opportunities for the agricultural sectors.
